Children with Selective Mutism don’t always need face-to-face therapy to make meaningful progress.

Many families, teachers and even health professionals assume that treatment for Selective Mutism can only be delivered in person. In reality, online intervention can be jus as effective—and for many children, it can even provide advantages that are difficult to achieve in a clinic.

This practical webinar demonstrates exactly how evidence-based treatment strategies for Selective Mutism can be successfully adapted for online sessions. Whether you are working with a child over Zoom, supporting online learning, coaching parents remotely, or helping a family who lives hundreds of kilometres away, you’ll learn practical techniques that you can begin using immediately.

Drawing on years of clinical experience treating children online, Clinical Psychologist Dr Elizabeth Woodcock and Speech Pathologist Diana Russo share the strategies, activities and treatment adaptations they have found to be most effective in helping children build communication and confidence in an online environment.

Why learn online strategies

Online treatment allows families to access specialist support regardless of where they live. It also creates opportunities that are often unavailable in face-to-face therapy, including easier parent involvement, treatment in the child’s familiar environment, greater collaboration with schools, and regular low-pressure opportunities to practise communication.

Whether you are supporting a child across town or across the country, online treatment can become a powerful addition to your Selective Mutism toolkit.

By the end of this webinar, you will have a practical framework for confidently delivering effective online intervention that helps children build communication skills wherever they are.
