A 6-week online parenting program for parents and caregivers of children aged 3 to 10, delivered via Zoom across Sydney and Australia. Particularly helpful for children experiencing anxiety or Selective Mutism.
This program can be especially helpful for parents of children with Selective Mutism, where anxiety can impact communication.
Watch this short introduction from Monique to learn how the program supports your child’s emotional development.
The Tuning in to Kids program is an evidence-based parenting program developed by researchers at the University of Melbourne. It is grounded in the work of John Gottman, a highly influential psychologist known for his research on emotional development and parent–child relationships.
The program is designed to help parents, grandparents, and caregivers support their child’s emotional development and build emotional intelligence. It focuses on helping children understand, manage, and express their emotions, improving behaviour, communication, and relationships.
These skills are particularly helpful for children with anxiety or Selective Mutism, who may need additional support to express their emotions.
Tuning in to Kids™ is an evidence-based parenting program developed by researchers at the University of Melbourne. It is grounded in emotional coaching principles and supported by extensive research demonstrating its effectiveness in improving children’s emotional competence and behaviour. At the Selective Mutism Clinic, the Tuning in to Kids™ program is delivered by accredited facilitator Monique Shipp, who has completed specialised training to deliver the framework with fidelity to its original design. We also have accredited facilitators within the team, including Jelena Arambasic for Tuning in to Kids™ and Rosy Lloyd for Tuning in to Teens™. While sessions are guided by the facilitator and tailored to families’ real-life experiences, the content and structure are based on the original model developed by its creators.
Emotional intelligence is a key factor in a child’s ability to navigate challenges at school, make and keep friends, and maintain good mental health. Research shows that children who develop emotional intelligence have better concentration, are more successful in their academic and social lives, and have fewer behaviour issues. Supporting your child in developing emotional intelligence will give them the tools they need to succeed in life.
