Micaela is an empathic and warm Clinical Psychology Registrar who aims to provide clients with a safe, non-judgemental space to feel heard and supported. Micaela is passionate about providing clients holistic, person-centred care to create meaningful change in their lives. Micaela utilises a range of evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Micaela works collaboratively with her clients and believes the therapeutic relationship is key to reaching treatment goals.
Micaela has experience working with a range of concerns with children and adults, including generalised anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, social anxiety, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, borderline personality disorder, ADHD, and, of course, Selective Mutism.
Micaela has experience across a range of private and public mental health settings. She provided both individual and group therapy (DBT and mindfulness groups) at a university clinic. Micaela has also gained experience at a community health centre, providing individual therapy to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. She has experience in workplace settings in the area of stress management and burn-out prevention. Micaela also has experience working in private practice with a focus on trauma related disorders (including complex trauma) anxiety and OCD.
Micaela has received specialised training at the Selective Mutism Clinic. Micaela is so passionate about Selective Mutism that she only sees clients with this condition at the clinic, and sees children of all ages, including adolescents and adults. Micaela receives ongoing supervision and training from the Director of the clinic regarding treatment for Selective Mutism. Micaela has completed a 6-year sequence of study, graduating with a Masters of Clinical Psychology. During her studies, she researched embodiment and has a keen interest in the role the body plays in trauma recovery. Micaela is a registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (Registration no.: PSY0002263569) and is currently undergoing a registrar program in Clinical Psychology. She is also a registered Medicare provider and a member of the Australian Psychological Society.

I became a Psychologist because I always loved the idea of holding a safe space for someone through their journey of healing and recovery.
I also work as a piano teacher at a music school. I’ve been at the same music school for 10 years now!
