Her Story

Michaela is a warm, and empathetic Clinical Psychology Registrar who is dedicated to cultivating a safe, non-judgemental, and accepting environment for individuals to explore their strengths and challenges. She works from a neurodiverse-affirming, and strengths-based framework, and is passionate about working in collaboration with people to identify and work towards their goals.

Michaela specialises in providing tailored, evidence-based therapies to young people, families, and adults who experience a variety of mental health concerns – including anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties, emotion dysregulation, and self-esteem difficulties. She has experience integrating evidence-based therapies (such as CBT, ACT, and DBT) to holistically support individuals build the life they want for themselves.

Michaela has clinical experience working with parents, families, adolescents, and adults across public health, university-based, and research settings. She has experience using both structured, and unstructured approaches to therapy. Michaela’s previous clinical experience has included work in a specialist public health clinic for adults who experience OCD and anxiety related disorders, and in a research-based setting providing parent-based interventions to support parents of children who experience emotional and behavioural challenges. Michaela also currently works within a public outpatient mental health service for adolescents who experience moderate to severe mental health difficulties.

Michaela completed a Master of Clinical Psychology, and a Bachelor of Psychology (with First Class Honours) at the University of Sydney. She is currently undertaking her registrar program in Clinical Psychology, and is an associate member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).

WHY I’M IN THIS LINE OF WORK

I think it’s really special to be in a role where you can help people be curious about their own internal world, and understand themselves in relation to the world around them.

ONE THING NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT ME

I love arthouse films, and an occasional winter swim.
