"It is hard to worry when you are focused only on the present moment. Worry is typically always about the future, and occasionally about the past. It is nearly impossible to be anxious or worried when your mind is in the here and now."

Her Story

Monique is a Clinical Psychologist with a Masters of Clinical Psychology. Monique works collaboratively with her clients to deeply understand their needs and empowers them toward change. Monique applies a scientific method to client concerns with an empathic relational therapeutic approach.

Monique provides holistic assessment and treatment to clients across the lifespan – children, adolescents, and adults – including selective mutism, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, depression, social anxiety, grief and loss, stress, and relationship distress. Monique has over 7 years of experience working with people in a variety of clinical, forensic and organisational settings and particularly loves working with children to help them achieve meaningful changes in their lives.

Within organisations, Monique has developed and implemented evidence-based interventions to address employee stress. She tutors in the Discipline of Psychological Sciences at multiple NSW-based Universities and is developing a randomised controlled trial for a mental health literacy program for adolescent females. Monique received combined clinical and forensic training in assessment and report writing for the Children’s Court Clinic and Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

Monique has extensive experience in group therapy, assessment, intervention, training and education, as well as support coordination. Monique uses evidence-based therapy treatments grounded in CBT, ACT, DBT, and Mindfulness and receives ongoing training from the Selective Mutism Clinic for the treatment of Selective Mutism in preschoolers to adults.

Monique provides emotion coaching training for parents and children and is an accredited facilitator for the ‘Tuning in to Kids’ program. She runs a six-week program to assist families in raising emotionally intelligent children.

Monique has full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist (Registration Number: PSY0002273006) and is an active member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).

FUN FACTS

MY FAVOURITE COLOUR

My favourite colour is green and brings to mind images about trees, bush walking, and rainforests. These images are refreshing and relaxing. Green brings me to think about my favourite tree, the ‘palm tree’, which reminds us to be open, and flexible to changes throughout life.

WHY I’M IN THIS LINE OF WORK

I chose clinical psychology to help others live and work better. My direct focus on Selective Mutism in my clinical practice is tremendously rewarding, it brings me great joy to hear my clients’ brave voices and to see them achieve therapy goals.

ONE THING NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT ME
