    Dr Ruth Kinniburgh-White

    Ruth is a Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from the University of Auckland and has since gained experience in a variety of settings in New Zealand, Canada and Australia. Ruth enjoys using evidence-based therapies to help children, adolescents and families to deal with many difficulties that can often occur over the course of life, including anxiety, mood disorders, interpersonal problems, and difficulty with emotion regulation. 

    Ruth has worked extensively in outpatient mental health services for children, adolescents and families. She has training in a variety of evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive behaviour therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy. Ruth’s doctoral thesis focused on stepfamily relationships, and Ruth particularly values helping families to navigate through difficult times and to feel empowered in supporting children and young people. Ruth has been part of a team delivering a comprehensive DBT program to adolescents and their families, including running skills groups to help with distress tolerance and emotion regulation, and she has seen the benefits that this approach can deliver. Ruth receives ongoing training from the selective mutism clinic in the latest and most innovative techniques for children with selective mutism and is also highly experienced with assessment for a variety of developmental and cognitive difficulties that can present in childhood and adolescence such as ADHD and Learning Disorders.

    Before relocating to Sydney with her family, Ruth worked in remote Australia for five years, and gained valuable experience in coordinating services, as well as additional experience working with children and families dealing with developmental difficulties.

    Ruth is an empathic and compassionate psychologist who believes in working alongside people to help them develop an understanding of the difficulties they are facing.

    Ruth holds full registration with AHPRA (Reg #: PSY0001768745) with an endorsement in Clinical Psychology.
