    Evelyn Defina

    Evelyn is a Psychologist fully registered with AHPRA. She completed her Psychology degree at the University of New South Wales, her Masters degree at the University of Sydney, and her Diploma at Excelsia College.

    Evelyn has had two professions, one in psychology and one in the arts and, at times in her career, the two have merged. She has consequently worked as a Dance-Movement therapist as well as lecturing in Dance Therapy/Psychology within the private tertiary education sector.

    Evelyn has experience working with people of all ages and across a variety of areas/organisations, including developmental disabilities (children and adults) in community health, aged care in nursing homes and hospitals, psychiatric institutions (adults), eating disorders within inpatient programs, pre-diabetic/diabetic outpatient care at St Vincent’s hospital, and in the last 14 years, has worked as a School Counsellor/Psychologist within a primary school setting. Her career has spanned over 30 years. Evelyn has received extensive training with the Selective Mutism Clinic in their evidence-based techniques for Selective Mutism.

    Overlapping her career, Evelyn has at times worked in private practice seeing adults within the community for a variety of life issues and challenges.

    Evelyn uses evidence-based methodologies, giving prominence to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). She also uses other therapeutic strategies to complement that framework in order to provide a tailored approach to address the needs of the individual client.

    Evelyn is a Christian, who has had many years in pastoral counselling, and has seen people through her previous private practice who desired Christian counselling and treatment approaches.

    Evelyn is a registered Medicare provider and holds full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PSY0001136474).
